Overview

Wiring and rewiring: an overview

Wiring is the part of your electrical system you rarely see, and it’s the part that matters most for safety. Whether you’re adding a circuit for a new appliance, remodeling a kitchen or bathroom, or living in an older home with wiring that has seen better days, the work needs to be planned and done properly.

For remodels and additions, we lay out circuits, outlets, switches and lighting to fit the way you’ll use the space, and make sure everything ties back to a panel that can support it. For older homes, we evaluate the existing wiring and recommend targeted repairs or a broader rewire, depending on what we find.

Kelm Electric performs this work under TECL #21849, with permits and inspections where required. Because Kelm also does plumbing and construction, remodel coordination is simpler when several trades are involved.

FAQ

Wiring & Rewiring FAQ

Common questions about this service.

Do I need to rewire my whole house?

Not always. Many older homes need targeted repairs rather than a full rewire. An evaluation tells you which.

Can you work around finished walls?

Often, yes, with careful routing. Some situations require openings that need patching afterward; we’ll explain beforehand.

Do you coordinate with other trades?

Yes. As part of Kelm Home Services, we coordinate with Kelm Plumbing and Kelm Construction on shared projects.

Will I need a permit?

Many wiring jobs require a permit. We’ll tell you what your project needs.
